Made-to-measure integration
We design the unit, bench or panel that holds the fireplace, so the flame sits at the height and in the spot the room calls for.
Real example: made-to-measure wooden bench

LED, screen or water vapour · No building work
An electric fireplace gives you the charm of a fire without complicated installations: it plugs into the mains, there is no combustion and it needs no flue. We build it in to measure on the wall, in a unit, under the TV or inside the fireplace you already have.

Clima Difusión
At Clima Difusión we offer a wide range of electric fireplaces: built-in and wall-mounted models, insert cassettes to renew an existing fireplace, baskets for traditional fireplaces and virtual stoves, with or without a heater.
Electric appliances use a wide variety of technologies that look more and more like a real fire. Some use LED light, others a high-definition screen that even reproduces the crackle of burning wood, and others a water tank that recreates flames and smoke with water vapour.
We have spent more than 30 years designing, making and installing bespoke fireplaces, and we bring that experience to electric ones too: we choose the model with you and build it into your living room, in a made-to-measure unit or under the TV, so it looks like part of the house rather than an add-on.
Quick answer
An electric fireplace plugs into the mains and recreates a fire with LED light, a high-definition screen or water vapour that looks like smoke. With no combustion and no flue, it needs no building work: it hangs on the wall, fits into a unit or an existing fireplace, or sits under the TV.

How it works
An electric fireplace burns nothing: it plugs into the mains and creates the image of a fire with light. That is why it makes no smoke or ash, needs no flue and can go in places where a wood or gas fireplace would not fit.
What changes from one model to another is the technology that draws the flame and whether or not it has a heater. In the video, a water vapour electric fireplace in operation: the flames are a fine mist of water lit from below.
LED lights and a set of reflections project moving flames onto decorative logs or stones. It uses very little power, and many models let you change the colour and intensity of the flame.
Virtual fireplaces and stoves show the image of a real fire on a screen. Some models add the crackling sound of burning wood for an even more immersive experience.
A water tank produces a very fine mist which, lit by LEDs, mimics flames and smoke with real depth. It can be seen from several angles; in return, you need to top up the water or, on some models, connect it to the supply.
Many models include a fan heater that switches on separately from the flame. So you can enjoy a fire in summer without the heat, or use it in winter as supplementary heating.
Types
We choose the format according to where the fireplace will go and how much of it you want to see. These are the formats we offer; where we have a real project, we link to it.
It is set into the wall, a plasterboard partition or a column, leaving only the glass front on show. It is the cleanest option in contemporary living rooms and the one that blends best with benches and shelving.
See a built-in electric fireplace with a benchIt hangs on the wall like a picture and only needs a nearby socket. It is the quickest solution when you do not want to touch the walls, for example in a rented flat, a bedroom or a study.
The fireplace is built into the living-room unit or into a panel under the television, so fire and screen share the same wall. We can make the unit to measure so everything lines up.
See the electric fireplace under the TVRenew your fireplace with an electric cassette placed inside the existing hearth. It is an easy way to improve the look of a fireplace you no longer use, with no smoke and no logs.
If you already have a traditional fireplace, an electric basket with simulated logs sits in the hearth and gives it a modern touch without major changes.
Virtual stoves and fireplaces, with or without a heater, that recreate the look of a classic stove. They stand on the floor as a freestanding piece and need no flue.
LED or vapour
No technology is better than the other: it depends on where the fireplace will go, how much maintenance you are willing to do and whether you want ambience only or heat as well. This table sums up the differences.

| Feature | LED | HD screen | Water vapour |
|---|---|---|---|
| How the flame is made | LED light and reflections on logs or stones | Image of a real fire on a screen | Water mist lit by LEDs |
| How it looks | Good from the front | Very realistic from the front | Three-dimensional, also from an angle |
| Water | No | No | A tank to refill or, on some models, a mains water connection |
| Maintenance | Practically none | Practically none | Refill and clean the tank as the manufacturer advises |
| Heater | Optional, depending on the model | Optional, depending on the model | Optional, depending on the model |
| Where it fits best | Everyday use in living rooms, bedrooms and TV units | Virtual stoves and spaces where the image of the fire matters | Statement pieces in living rooms, premises and design spaces |
If you want a fireplace that just works —no water and almost no maintenance— and that you can switch on every day, LED is the most practical option. A high-definition screen adds the image of a real fire and, on some models, the sound of burning wood.
If the fireplace is going to be the centrepiece of the living room or of your premises, and you want a flame with depth that can be seen from several angles, water vapour is the most striking. In return, you have to look after the water: refill the tank or plan a water supply if the model allows it.
Running costs
An electric fireplace has two very different levels of consumption: the flame effect, which is low, and the heater, if the model has one. That is why people talk about low-energy electric fireplaces: you can switch on just the flame and enjoy the ambience while using little electricity.
The power of each mode is given on each model's data sheet. When we choose the fireplace with you, we tell you the power of the flame effect and of the heater, so you know what to expect on your bill.
| Mode | What is on | Consumption | What it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flame only | The fire effect: LED, screen or vapour | Low | Creating ambience at any time of year, summer included |
| Flame and heat | The fire effect and the fan heater | Like an electric heater of the same power | Supplementary heating in the room where it is |
This is the mode people use most. The flame runs without heat, so you can enjoy the fire at a summer dinner or while watching a film without warming up the room. Many models let you adjust the intensity and colour of the flame.
With the heater on, the fireplace warms the room it is in, as an electric heater would. It is a good extra in spring and autumn or in one particular room; if you want to heat the whole house, compare it with a gas or wood-burning fireplace or a pellet stove.
Decorative
Many people are looking for a decorative fireplace: fire as a design feature rather than a source of heat. A decorative electric fireplace is the simplest way to get it, because it does not depend on a flue or on fuel that has to be stored.
As the flame gives off no heat unless you want it to, you can keep it on all year round and place it where it looks best: under the TV, on an empty wall or in a made-to-measure unit.

At home, a decorative electric fireplace usually goes under the TV or on a wall that needs a point of light. In bedrooms and studies, wall-mounted models work well: you hang them, plug them in and that is it.
In a shop, a reception area or a restaurant, fire creates atmosphere without smoke or fuel. If you are torn between a water vapour electric fireplace and a bioethanol one for your business, our guide to choosing a fireplace for commercial premises (in Spanish) explains the options.
Portfolio
Two real projects from our portfolio: an electric fireplace built in under the TV and another set at the end of a made-to-measure wooden bench.

Under the TV · Made-to-measure panel
The fireplace runs the full width of the white panel that holds the TV and rests on a wooden base. Fire and screen share the wall without getting in each other's way, and the living room gains a warm point of light on the TV wall.

Built-in · Made-to-measure bench
An electric fireplace built in at the end of a white column, with glass on the front and side. The made-to-measure wooden bench runs along the wall under the TV and ends at the fireplace, which sits flush in the same plane.
Installation
An electric fireplace needs no flue and no fuel supply, so fitting one is much simpler than a wood or gas fireplace. A wall-mounted model or a stove only needs a socket; if you want it built in, the recess has to be prepared in the wall, the unit or the existing fireplace.
Hanging it on the wall involves no building work; cutting a recess into a partition or making a fixed unit does, even if it is a small job. Whether that work needs any paperwork depends on your building and your local council; in a rented flat or commercial premises, check with the owner first as well.
We check where the socket is and, if the fireplace is built in, we provide the socket inside the recess or the unit so the cable stays out of sight.
Built-in models need the recess dimensions and ventilation set out by the manufacturer, especially if they have a heater. We respect them when we design the unit or the partition.
We design and make the panel, bench or unit that holds the fireplace, with the materials and finish that match the rest of the room.
On a water vapour fireplace, the tank has to stay accessible for refilling; if the model allows a direct mains water connection, we plan for it.
We take care of the whole process, in four stages.
We choose the format, flame effect and finish with you, and check the space and the power point.
We make the made-to-measure parts —unit, panel or bench— and coordinate logistics and timings.
We build in or hang the fireplace, connect it and check that everything works: flame, heater and remote.
We finish the cladding and leave the fireplace ready. All you have to do is switch it on.
Maintenance
It is the fireplace that needs the least maintenance: no ash to clear, no glass that blackens and no flue to sweep.
On LED and screen models, it is enough to dust the front and the glass and keep the heater vents clear. On water vapour models, you refill the tank when it runs dry —unless it is connected to the supply— and follow the manufacturer's advice on the type of water and regular cleaning.

Other options
If what you want is a real flame or to heat the whole house, another fuel may suit you better. We work with all of them, so we will tell you straight.
| Feature | Electric | Bioethanol | Gas | Wood |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flame | Simulated: LED, screen or water vapour | Real | Real | Real |
| Heat | Optional, supplementary | Low: mainly decorative | Yes, adjustable at any moment | Yes |
| Flue | No | No outside venting needed | Yes: vertical, horizontal or under the floor | Yes, a chimney flue |
| Fuel | Electricity | Bioethanol, renewable | Natural gas or LPG | Wood |
| Installation | A socket; the recess if built in | No flue: built-in burner or stove | Certified installer and flue | Hearth or cassette and chimney |

A real fire with no flue to the outside, lit manually, automatically or remotely. Its heat output is low, so it is mainly decorative.

Instant heat and an adjustable flame, with no smell or ash. It needs a flue and is installed by our certified installer.
See gas fireplaces
The heat and smell of a traditional wood fire, in a built hearth, a cassette or an insert. It needs a flue and a little more maintenance.
See wood-burning fireplaces
Pellet stoves, insert cassettes and boilers. With a single fan they heat one or two rooms; with ducts, several. They need a flue.

FAQ
The most common questions before choosing an electric fireplace: heat, running costs, technology, installation and maintenance.
It depends on the model. Many electric fireplaces have a fan heater that warms the room they are in, as supplementary heating; others are purely decorative. On almost all of them the flame can run without heat, so they work in summer too. If you need to heat the whole house, a gas or wood-burning fireplace or a pellet stove will suit you better.
It has two levels of consumption. The flame effect on its own uses little, which is why people talk about low-energy electric fireplaces. With the heater running it uses as much as an electric heater of the same power. The power of each mode is on the model's data sheet, and we tell you when you choose it.
LED is the most practical option: no water and almost no maintenance, made to be used every day. Water vapour creates a three-dimensional flame with smoke that can be seen from several angles, and it is the most striking as a centrepiece; in return, you have to refill the tank or connect it to the water supply if the model allows it.
Yes. It is a very common spot: the fireplace is built into a panel or unit under the screen, respecting the dimensions and ventilation set by the manufacturer, and fire and TV share the wall. You can see an example in our electric fireplace under the TV.
Very little, but there is one task LED models do not have: the water. You refill the tank when it runs dry, except on models connected to the supply, and follow the manufacturer's advice on the type of water and regular cleaning of the tank. There is no ash, soot or flue to clean.
Yes, it is one of the simplest options, because there is no combustion and no flue. A wall-mounted model, a stove or a basket only needs a socket, and you can take it with you when you move. If you want it built in and that means cutting a recess or making a fixed unit, check with the owner first.
A wall-mounted model or a stove is installed quickly: it is fixed or placed and plugged in. A built-in fireplace needs a recess prepared in a partition, a unit or an existing fireplace, with the manufacturer's dimensions and ventilation and a socket inside. We take care of the design, the made-to-measure unit and the installation.
Yes. An insert cassette or an electric basket goes inside the hearth of a traditional fireplace and renews it without major changes. You will no longer light a wood fire in it, but you will have a clean flame, with no smoke or ash, and all it needs is a socket near the hearth.
There is no combustion, so it produces no smoke or fumes and needs no flue. The flame is an effect made of light or vapour, not a real fire, and the part that gets warmest is the heater's air outlet when it is on. As with any electrical appliance, you should respect the clearances and ventilation set by the manufacturer.
On this page you can download PDF catalogues from Glen Dimplex, Flamerite, Evonic, Xaralyn and Trimline. If you cannot decide between them, we help you compare their models by format, flame effect and the way you will use the fireplace, and we prepare a no-obligation quote.
Both avoid the need for a flue. A water vapour electric fireplace has no real flame and no fuel to store; a bioethanol one gives a real fire, mainly for decoration. Which suits you depends on the premises and how they will be used.
Full guide (in Spanish): choosing a fireplace for commercial premises
A gas stove gives heat instantly and is usually cheaper to run when heating large spaces, but it needs a flue. An electric one is easier to install, as it only needs a socket, and works better as supplementary heating or as a decorative piece.
